Ingredients
- 2 cups pasta (elbow macaroni or rotini)
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 onion (optional)
- 2 cloves garlic (or garlic powder)
- 1 can cream of mushroom or cream of cheddar soup
- 1 cup milk or broth
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons mustard
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika (optional)
- 2 cups cheddar cheese (shredded)
- Optional toppings: diced pickles, crispy onions, sesame seeds, or chopped tomatoes
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F and lightly grease a 9×13 baking dish.
- Boil your pasta in salted water and drain it when it’s just a little firm.
- Brown the ground beef in a skillet. Add chopped onion if you’re using it. Season with salt and pepper. Drain extra grease.
- Stir in garlic, ketchup, mustard, and your creamy soup. Add a splash of milk or broth to make it stirrable.
- Mix the cooked pasta into the beef mixture. Taste it and adjust seasoning if needed.
- Pour everything into the baking dish and top with a layer of cheddar cheese.
- Bake for about 20 to 25 minutes, until bubbly and the cheese is melted.
- Let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
You can prep parts of this casserole ahead. It reheats well, making it great for leftovers. Adjust ingredients to your family’s taste.
