Description

Soft and tender cinnamon rolls swirled with pumpkin butter, perfect for cozy mornings at home.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 4 tablespoons butter (melted for dough)
  • 1/4 cup butter (softened for filling)
  • 1/2 cup pumpkin butter
  • 3 1/2 to 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
  • 1 cup cream cheese or powdered sugar (for icing)
  • 2-3 tablespoons milk (for icing)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla (for icing)
  • Pinch of salt (for icing)

Instructions

  1. Wake up the yeast. Pour warm milk into a bowl, stir in a little sugar, then sprinkle yeast over the top. Let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes until it looks foamy.
  2. Mix the dough. Add pumpkin butter, melted butter, egg, salt, and the rest of the sugar. Stir. Add flour a little at a time until you get a soft, slightly tacky dough.
  3. Knead briefly for about 6 to 8 minutes until smooth and stretchy.
  4. First rise. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise until doubled (60 to 90 minutes).
  5. Fill and roll. Roll dough into a rectangle, spread softened butter, a layer of pumpkin butter, and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar. Roll it up tightly.
  6. Slice and second rise. Cut into 9 to 12 rolls and place them in a greased baking dish. Cover and let them rise for about 30 to 45 minutes.
  7. Bake at 350°F until lightly golden (about 22 to 28 minutes).
  8. Ice while warm. Mix icing ingredients and spread it on the rolls while warm.

Notes

Pumpkin butter should be thick and smooth for best results.
