A rich, soft pumpkin bread with deep chocolate flavor that stays moist for days and is perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup pumpkin puree
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil or melted butter
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp pumpkin pie spice or cinnamon plus nutmeg
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Heat your oven to 350°F and grease a loaf pan, lining it with parchment if desired.
- Mix the dry ingredients: flour, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and spices in a bowl.
- Whisk the wet ingredients: pumpkin, eggs, oil, sugars, and vanilla in another bowl until smooth.
- Pour the dry into the wet and stir until just combined; avoid overmixing.
- Fold in most of the chocolate chips, then pour the batter into the pan; sprinkle remaining chips on top.
- Bake for about 50 to 60 minutes, checking at 50 with a toothpick.
- Cool in the pan for 10 to 15 minutes before moving to a rack.
Notes
For best results, use room temperature eggs and avoid packing flour. Allow the loaf to cool before slicing.
